The Role
We are looking for the next Business Intelligence Developer to join our BI team in Athens. In this role, you will sit dynamically between a junior and senior level, serving as a core technical driver for our data initiatives. You will join our BI team in creating and maintaining robust ETL flows and high-performing business intelligence applications, which are presently built using Qlik Sense and Looker. This position requires a strong balance of business acumen and technical data engineering skills. You will maintain direct collaboration with cross-functional departments acting as stakeholders, while also coaching and sharing your experience with junior members of the team.
What you will do
Application Development: Build, maintain, and optimize intuitive business intelligence applications primarily utilizing Qlik Sense and Looker to drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Data Modeling & ETL: Design and implement performant data models, information engineering processes, and complex ETL flows to support underlying applications.
SQL Optimization: Write, debug, and optimize advanced SQL queries to handle complex data extractions and transformations across diverse database technologies.
AI Tool Integration: Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate scripting, optimize query performance, and automate data documentation workflows.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner directly with business stakeholders to translate complex commercial questions into clear data requirements and actionable KPIs.
System Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application reloads to ensure stability, performance, and predictability from an end-user perspective.
Version Control: Manage environment codebases and team collaboration using Git version control architectures.
Mentorship: Actively coach, support, and share best practices with junior developers within the BI ecosystem.
Technical Ownership: Challenge current ways of working and assume technical responsibility for specific BI platforms, including monitoring and feature adoption.
Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
Experience: Around 4 years of professional experience developing, modeling, and delivering enterprise solutions within modern BI tools, with a dedicated focus on Qlik Sense or Looker.
SQL: Expert-level proficiency in writing and tuning SQL scripts for complex data handling and manipulation.
Data Warehousing & Transformation: Hands-on experience or foundational knowledge of Dremio and dbt will be considered a major asset.
AI Proficiency: Demonstrated ability or strong familiarity with utilizing AI tools to streamline development cycles, troubleshoot logic, and enhance overall data engineering productivity.
Version Control: Solid understanding of repository management and branching strategies via Git.
Background: University degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Soft Skills
Communication: Strong communication skills with an excellent command of spoken and written English to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
Mindset: Highly curious, methodical, ambitious, and thorough in data verification and problem-solving.
Autonomy: Proven ability to independently evaluate, prioritize, and execute tasks while delivering high-quality work in a fast-moving business.
Adaptability: Eager to learn complex, sometimes loosely documented data structures and quickly adapt to evolving business needs.
