Join us and start as a Data Scientist in the Data, Science & Research team!
The Role
Our Data Science and Research (DSR) team creates and delivers data pipelines and machine learning based solutions towards internal stakeholders. We process billions of requests daily to enable sophisticated prediction pipelines within revenue estimation, conversion analysis and pricing automation. We develop and maintain advanced data-processing and training pipelines to improve the speed and precision of our solutions and deliver them in a highly scalable and resilient environment. You will be joining an experienced team of 14 Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers and Operations Engineers building our products from end to end.
We are in search of a Data Scientist with the ability to work in an energetic and interactive environment. You must be a self-starter with a strong foundation in statistics and machine learning and as part of our team work closely with our machine learning engineers, data engineers and business stakeholders. You will regularly research, learn and implement cutting-edge methodologies and models which translate complex data into actionable business strategies and play an active role in developing, proving out and (re)assessment of existing machine learning solutions.
Main tasks
Work closely with stakeholders to understand business problems, define clear objectives and translate their concerns, suggestions and ideas into testable hypotheses and quantifiable metrics.
Performing statistical analyses and visualizations to understand the structure, patterns, anomalies and quality of data..
Clean, transform and prepare large and complex datasets for model training. You'll also identify and engineer relevant features to improve model accuracy and efficiency.
Design, build and train robust machine learning models using appropriate algorithms and techniques. This includes experimenting with different architectures and hyperparameters to optimize performance for specific business needs.
Work with Machine Learning, Data and Operations Engineers to deploy the final model into production. This includes performing AB tests to measure and evaluate the models performance on real world data.
Explain model results and statistical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders deriving actionable insights.
Learning Curve
In this role you will be using the best selection of tools and processes in the Data Science domain. You will be working within our ML platform providing automation and standardisation for analytical and exploratory work but also productionising and providing inference to business users and systems. Further, the role will enable you to learn even more about creating, developing and implementing standards for ML modelling and deepen your knowledge about ML concepts and frameworks. And you will have the possibility to learn more about (and get hands-on experience of) adjacent fields like Machine Learning and Data Engineering.
Requirements
University degree in a STEM discipline
2 years of professional or other comparable exceptional experience like a PhD in a related field
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Proficiency in python including numerical and visualisation libraries like pandas or polars and matplotlib
Experience in data analytics, exploration and modelling using jupyter or marimo
Expertise in writing complex and optimised SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation
Familiarity with version control (git) and the ability to navigate and work in larger code bases
Understanding and experience in working with ML modelling and tuning frameworks like sklearn, lightgbm, pytorch
Familiarity with LLM based solutions like RAG systems including orchestration and evaluation tooling like langchain or langfuse
Exposure to implementing orchestrated training pipelines using model management using airflow and mflow
Exposure to prediction service technologies, development practices like CI/CD and model monitoring and alerting practices will be a meritorious
